AMAZING DANCER MEDALS INFORMATION

At one convention each year, students of Action Dance are given one Amazing Dancer Medal. The students are instructed to give it to a deserving dancer from another studio at the convention. This program is designed to teach the students respect for their fellow dancers and encourage camaraderie beyond studio boundaries. Some students may award their medals to dancers who exhibit outstanding talent, while others may give theirs to whomever gave great effort, persevered through adversity, showed a lot of potential or simply exhibited what they considered an award-worthy smile. There is no criteria for giving the medal. The student that receives the medal is encouraged to re-award the medal at their next convention to whomever they deem award worthy. On this website students are encouraged to express what it felt like to receive an Amazing Dancer Medal.

MEDAL RECIPIENT RESPONSES

Hey! My name is Kylie Magar and I train at Allegro Performing Arts Academy. Not too long ago at Co Dance I got one of these medals. At first I was all thanks and not certain of what it was but then somebody from your studio, I think her name is Sarah told me about what it is and I just felt so touched and I felt that I was inspiring people! THIS IS a very cool award you have! Also I think I got this from a girl whose name starts with an A. Sorry I forgot, it's been a while. But thanks so much! KEEP SHINING!

I was surprised, happy and honored that I received this medal from Reagan at Co-dance.  I love dancing and work really hard, so it felt awesome.  It’s such a special thing for your studio to recognize others as fellow dancers, not competitors.  Thank you!

It made me feel like I am pretty good at dancing. I was hoping to get an award to show all of my friends back in Yakima. It feels pretty darn good to get a medal, especially when it's your first time. The medal also inspired me to be a better dancer.

I just wanted to thank you for the medal that I received at Co. Dance in Tacoma. I believe the name of the person that gave it to me was Brooke, but I may be mistaken. I was a bit surprised when I received the medal but when I found out what it stood for, I was really moved. The reason that I love conventions is that I get to meet a lot of different dancers from a lot of different places and I try to make friends with as many of them as possible.

This weekend at Hollywood Vibe, I met three of the most amazing tap dancers. I had seen them before in Portland but watching them this weekend made me realize how hard they work and how sweet they were. After I learned about what this medal meant, I felt that these three girls deserved it more than anyone. The joy of giving it to them was equal to the joy I felt when I received it from your studio.

You have a great thing going here and a wonderful idea. Thanks for including me in it.

-Brionna Kraft, Camille's Dance Edge, Edmonds, WA
